Alexander McQueen Fashion House to Design Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress? (ContributorNetwork)

Have Prince William and Kate Middleton chosen a wedding dress designer for the royal nuptials? With April 29 fast approaching, work on the gown needs to get started. Even though mum's the word, there are some interesting rumors that point to the late Alexander McQueen's fashion house as having been given the commission.

* March 2011 -- Alexander McQueen Fashion House. In what might be termed a case of "loose lips sink ships," the fashion house's CEO Jonathan Akeroyd is said to have told a professional contact that the British design house had received the commission. This would put the late fashion designer's right-hand assistant and current Alexander McQueen label creative director, Sarah Burton, in charge of Middleton's wedding gown.

* March 2011 -- Bruce Oldfield. If the name sounds familiar, royal watchers are sure to remember that Bruce Oldfield was credited with being the late Princess Diana's favorite designer. Eagle-eyed reporters keeping an eye on the premises of notable British fashion houses reported that Middleton's sister (the maid of honor), her mother and also the Countess of Wessex have been seen frequenting the establishment. The latter is the mother of 7-year-old Lady Louise Windsor, who is one of the bridesmaids at Prince William and Kate's wedding.

* February 2011 -- Erdem Moralioglu. A powerhouse in the British fashion industry, his fashion house was rumored to be perfect for Middleton's sense of style. Not outrageous or controversial, Erdem fashions are known to flatter slimmer models who can carry a traditional look. In the same breath, fashion gossips pooh-poohed the idea of the bride's hiring Bruce Oldfield and putting herself in competition with Prince William's late mother.

* December 2010 -- David Emanuel. The designer of Lady Diana Spencer's wedding gown was thought to be the natural choice for Prince William's bride. While the dress made of antique lace, ivory silk and taffeta was a breathtaking creation for the Princess of Wales, it is difficult to imagine the much more independent and less demure Middleton in these types of traditional trappings. David Emanuel has not been mentioned recently when discussing the royal wedding gown.

* November 2010 -- Phillipa Lepley. She was an early favorite among the betting public. The fact Middleton chose an Issa creation when facing the press after the engagement announcement was thought to speak volumes. Close in style to Lepley gown looks, the designer who is billed as "London's leading couture bridal designer" would have been a logical choice for the royal bride's fashion style.

Alexander McQueen's fashion house categorically denies being involved with the April wedding or its gown. This, of course, is par for the course.

Blake Lively credits mom for her fashion sense (AP)

By ALICIA QUARLES, AP Entertainment Writer Alicia Quarles, Ap Entertainment Writer – Thu Mar 3, 4:39 pm ET

NEW YORK – Blake Lively's style has inspired many, but she says it was her mother who helped to shape her own fashion sensibilities.

Lively — the new face of Chanel's "Mademoiselle" handbag — was honored by the famed fashion label at a dinner Wednesday night. At the event, Lively gave credit to her mother for educating her about fashion.

Lively says her mother was a model so she was always exposed to beautiful clothes. Her mother would also make clothes, and bring her daughters with her to buy fabrics.

Lively said besides the right look, confidence is key in making an outfit work. Though critics may disagree on one of her red-carpet looks, Lively says as long as she feels comfortable about what she's wearing and is being herself, she loves it.

Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones Step Out for Fashion Week

Michael Douglas, 66, and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 41, were spotted stepping out in New York City earlier this week, to mingle with a star-studded crowd enjoying Michael Kors' 30th-anniversary collection, and the party that followed.

Douglas, looking trim and healthy after his harrowing battle with throat cancer, is a longtime friend of Kors' business partner, Lawrence Stroll. The 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' star (looking forward to shooting a Liberace biopic with Steven Soderbergh later this year) attended the event alongside Zeta-Jones, who was sporting full, wild hair.

And they weren't the only stylish celebs at the Kors show.

Debra Messing, Angie Harmon and Emma Roberts (who hit several shows throughout Fashion Week) were in attendance. And seated in the front row: Bette Midler, Anjelica Huston, model Patti Hansen and Rene Russo, the stunning model-turned-movie star whom Kors costumed so memorably in 1999's 'The Thomas Crown Affair.'

Tracy Reese Combines Comfort And Glamour At New York Fashion Week

It's not uncommon for clothes that hit the runway to be over-the-top or extravagant, but at the Tracy Reese show during New York fashion week, it was all about wearability.

Reese presented a collection that featured feminine frocks and loose tunics in a range of colors during her show.

"It was really about texture," Reese told MTV News. "Texture, comfort, protection, glamour: How do we put all those together and create some really cool looks?"

Reese combined her key elements to produce a variety of original styles, from an eye-catching full-sleeved, hot-pink dress to a black-and-white number in alternating patterns.

"She's a total champion of individuality and walking to the beat of your own tune," said actress Gabrielle Union, who was in the audience alongside Julia Stiles.

Fur, a big trend on the runways this year, was also a key element of some of her pieces, including a turquoise dress that was accented with a black belt and fur neck wrap and a white dress with silver accents, which Reese paired with a beige fur coat.

Reese didn't stray from her message of accessibility when it came to styling her models' hair. "I wanted the hair to be simple and tousled like something you could do yourself and it gives a relaxed feeling to the clothing," Reese said.

To achieve the look, TRESemmé celebrity stylist Jeanie Syfu used a curling iron to produce reverse waves, which she topped off with sprayed-on colored highlights to match each girl's look.

Grammy Red Carpet Fashion: Eggs, Spots And Lots Of Sparkle

Lady Gaga's egg aside, there was a lot of glamour on the Grammy red carpet on Sunday night (February 13). Between the dazzling whites and animal prints, the stars turned up their fashion game for the big show in Los Angeles.

Check out photos of Lady Gaga's arrival and the rest of the Grammy red carpet.

Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch hit the carpet early in a white, partially sheer gypsy-esque gown by Givenchy, complete with swan detailing. Paramore leading lady Hayley Williams showed off her fire-engine red hair with a '60s silhouette that included a black sequined dress with hot-pink trim and black tights by Jeremy Scott.

Nicki Minaj did her own thing in a leopard print Givenchy dress with matching tights, shoes and even a beehive, Marie Antoinette-inspired wig with spots. "I'm also wearing kick-ass attitude," Minaj told MTV News hosts Snooki and Sway on the carpet. Perhaps stealing from Nicki Minaj's wardrobe cues, Swizz Beatz also wore all-black with a leopard jacket.

Katy Perry donned an iridescent Armani dress with angel wings, beads along the bust and cut-out detailing. Hubby Russell Brand and Katy's 90-year-old grandmother, Anne, were also wearing silver outfits designed by Armani. Perry's good pal Rihanna hit the carpet with her fiery hair looking shorter but still edgy in a white tulle gown with tiered ruffles by Jean Paul Gaultier that left little to the imagination.

It was all-black everything for some of the guys. Drake looked fancy in a black tuxedo with black shirt and black bow tie. Like Drake, Adam Lambert hit the carpet in black, wearing a low-cut black button-down with a black tuxedo that had leather details on the collar.

Justin Bieber looked white-hot in an all-white tuxedo with black bow tie and pocket square; he completed the look with white kicks. His gal pal Selena Gomez looked ultra-glam in a body-hugging J. Mendel lingerie-style silver gown. Gomez's fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus looked equally glittering (and newly blonde) in a skin-tight silver gown by Roberto Cavalli that she wore with lots of bangles. Kim Kardashian, who walked the carpet with brother Rob, opted for gold instead of silver in a low-cut, golden halter gown with a thigh-high slit by Kaufman Franco.
