Katie Price “sets the record straight once and for all”

Whenever we see Katie’s face on the cover of a magazine or newspaper with the word “exclusive” written across it we look the other way, guessing that the quotes are all taken from past interviews and regurgitated.  But when Katie tweeted last night saying, “OMG BIG THANKS to THE DAILY STAR newspaper-GET IT TOMORROW”, we thought we should check it out.
Following her return from LA she talked to the newspaper about recent events, “Look, I’ve had pretty much two years from hell. There are those who want to see me destroyed and they’ll stop at nothing to ruin everything I’ve worked for. I know I make a living from promoting myself but I’m shocked at how much some people hate me and how some people lie about me.”
However she insists that she isn’t saying all of this to win sympathy votes, or because she feels sorry for herself, she just wants to clear things up that have been said about her, “I’m not feeling sorry for myself and I don’t cry easily but the last few months have been the WORST ever and yes I’ve been in tears. The stress of my divorce from Alex and all the stuff hanging over from Pete is enormous. However I am NOT having a breakdown nor have I ever been close.”
When asked about her relationship with Pete she is keen to point out that she still cares for him, but mostly because of the link they share through their children. “Look, Pete will always be in my life. I don’t want a war because it will haunt the kids for the rest of their lives. I do care for Pete but not to the extent where I wanted to rush to his side when he was ill recently as yet another lie said. That’s his girlfriend’s job. He’s the father of my children, and for that reason I want him to be successful and happy.”
On speaking about the children she adds, “it is awful that they have been dragged into this. I love my kids and would never, ever hurt them or let them be hurt.”
We bet she’s glad she got all of this off her chest!

Cirque du Soleil puts record $57 million in Russian show (Reuters)

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Canadian circus company Cirque du Soleil will invest a record $57 million in a new show in Moscow next year to test the ground before launching a permanent show in Russia by 2015, its president said on Monday.

"Zarkana" is Cirque du Soleil's first new show in Russia and will be the most expensive non-permanent show the company has ever made to date, Daniel Lamarre told reporters.

The Montreal-based company said the $57 million it would invest in the highly acrobatic show is significantly more than the $30-$50 million it was previously eyeing for all of Russia.

"Zarkana, for us, is a test to see if the market can bear a permanent show," Lamarre said.

"(The show) will tell me much more about the clientele in Moscow. If we have the success that I think we will have, this will definitely confirm the means for a permanent presence."

The 26-year-old Cirque du Soleil came to Russia two years ago and is now in the three Russian cities of Moscow, Kazan and Saint Petersburg. It will add the Urals city of Yekaterinburg later this year.

Lamarre said Russia, which has a long history of circus, is the company's fastest-growing market.

"We have never developed a market at the pace we are doing in Russia right now, which is much more encouraging than I thought when we first came in," Lamarre said.

Cirque du Soleil, which says a fifth of its 1,000 artists are from Russia, is banking on the country's love for circus and the arts for it to prosper.

"The response from the previous two shows was amazing, the best we've seen anywhere else in the world," its vice chairman Craig Cohon told Reuters.

"The Russian audience really gets the art of the cirque... I am confident the permanent production will be a success here," he said.

Zarkana will premiere at the Kremlin Palace in February 2012 and run for nine weeks.

David Archuleta Dropped by Record Label

'American Idol' season 7 runner-up David Archuleta is facing a major setback in his once-promising post-'AI' career.

The 20-year-old's bad news went public yesterday, according to the Los Angeles Times: Jive Records says they've dropped the singer from the label after three years, with a company spokesperson confirming, "David was released from our roster."

Archuleta was just 16 when he lost 'Idol' (bested by David Cook), but he won countless fans who adored his sweet smile and formidable vocal skill. Still, the record business is all about numbers: Archuleta's 2008 self-titled debut, featuring the hit single 'Crush,' was certified platinum and sold almost a million copies worldwide. Yet that may get chalked up to beginner's luck, as his sophomore studio album has struggled to rack up 60,000 in sales since its release a few months ago.

The young crooner, while upbeat about his new album, also told PopEater at the time that he'd enjoy going to college someday. Think that will be his next move? No reaction yet from Archuleta's camp about the sudden about-face from his once supportive label, or what's next for the singer.

Earlier this week, just a day before the world learned he was parting ways with Jive, Archleta tweeted a cryptic message about moving forward with his career: "Decisions. They are scary things before knowing what could happen after you make them, but I'm excited for what the future holds."

David Archuleta Dropped By Record Label

He had the looks, the humility and the vocal talent that made many think a life of superstardom was all but guaranteed. But just three years after David Archuleta charmed audiences as the runner-up on the seventh season of "American Idol," the 20-year-old performer has been dropped by Jive Records, his label since 2008, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hot on the heels of his appearance on "Idol" and buoyed by the popularity of his single "Crush," Archuleta's self-titled debut album sold more than 750,000 copies in America and nearly a million worldwide, rocketing the crooner to #2 on the Billboard 200.

His second, and newest, album has failed to ignite, however. Released on October 5, 2010, The Other Side of Down has stalled at just over 60,000 units.

It's a certain setback, but if the younger Archuleta has anything to say about it, not a permanent one.

"I hope to always be myself, except more mature and knowing more," Archuleta said in an interview with MTV News in 2008. "Hopefully I'll still be making music five years from now. I don't want to give it up. I want to continue on with it, and if there's a chance to make more albums, I definitely want to do that."

Despite being pegged early as the eventual winner, Archuleta lost in the season-seven finale of "American Idol" to David Cook. He received 44 percent of more than 97 million votes.
