Mariah Carey Celebrates at Adults-Only Baby Shower

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated the upcoming arrival of their twins at a blue-and-pink themed baby shower Sunday night at The Conservatory Grill at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, PEOPLE reported. The elegant baby shower was adults-only.

Carey and Cannon arrived at the party at 7pm and were joined by family and friends including 'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson.

The shower was decorated with pink roses, blue hydrandeas and pink and blue balloons in honor of the little baby boy and girl they are expecting. Guests brought presents wrapped in pink and blue also.

"Mariah had the best time at her shower," a source tells PEOPLE. "She was very touched by how nicely everything turned out and excited about all the generous gifts she received. She has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately, but the shower was an event that she really enjoyed and that made her very happy. Now she can't wait to meet her baby twins!"

"Thank you SO much to all who came to the baby shower last night and all who couldn't be there but sent such beautiful presents and sweet messages!" Carey wrote on her website Monday. "Still haven't really opened all the gifts but seeing so many people who came from all over the world to be there with us was the BEST gift we could ask for!"

Mariah Embarrassed by Gaddafi Performance

MARIAH EMBARRASSED BY GADDAFI PERFORMANCE
Mariah Carey has revealed she felt ''horrible and embarrassed'' after she was paid $1 million to sing for the son of Libya's Colonel Gaddafi.

The pregnant singer gave a private performance for members of the dictator's family at a party in the Caribbean in 2006 but has vowed to be careful about who she works for in future.

She said in a statement: "I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess."

"Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows."

Colonel Gaddafi - who has been linked to terrorist activity and accused of running a brutal regime over his people for 40 years - has been asked to step down by leaders of the western world following a violent revolt in the Middle Eastern country, but has refused, even denying there is unrest in the state.

Mariah, 40, - who is expecting twins with her husband Nick Cannon - is not the only high profile singer to perform for the Libyan leader's family.

On Wednesday (March 2, 2011) Beyonce Knowles announced she gave a private performance for members of the dictator's family on New Year's Eve 2009, but instead of keeping the cash for herself she gave it all away to Haiti, following the devastating earthquake that ravaged the Caribbean nation in early 2010.

While earlier this week, Nelly Furtado revealed she is to donate the $1 million she earned performing for Gaddafi's family in 2007.

The "Powerless (Say What You Want)" singer tweeted: "In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy. I am going to donate the $ (sic)."

It was recently revealed Mariah, 41, had converted an entire section of her home into a nursery for her twins.

Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey on Cowell's "X Factor" list (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Singers Mariah Carey and George Michael, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and ex-"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul are all in the running to join Simon Cowell on his upcoming talent show "The X Factor," Cowell said on Thursday.

But none of them are locked in as judges for the upcoming TV show, and Cowell told celebrity TV show Access Hollywood he was in no hurry to make a decision.

Singer Jessica Simpson was also reported this week to be keen for a spot on the panel of the singing contest. But sources close to the show told People magazine that a final decision may take weeks.

Cowell told Access Hollywood he had spoken to Carey, who is pregnant with twins.

But he added; "We've spoken to lots of people. I've spoken to Paula...we've taken it down to a smaller group of people and she (Abdul) is in that panel. But you know, it's more than me who makes the decision."

Despite their often tempestuous relationship on "American Idol", Cowell has made no secret of his admiration and off-set friendship with the volatile Abdul.

Cowell said last month that he would be one of the "X Factor" judges.

The U.S. version of the "The X Factor" is due to debut on Fox in the fall of 2011, offering an unprecedented $5 million prize for the winner, along with a record contract.

But unlike "Idol", the "X Factor" judges will mentor the contestants closely, helping them with song choice, production, coaching and even style during the TV contest.

"It's good to kind of delay the process...You genuinely have got to trust they they're going to be able to do the job you're paying them to do," Cowell said of the new panel.

Cowell said that singers Katy Perry and Elton John -- whose names were floated in the media earlier this year --are not on the short list.
