No Drugs or Alcohol Involved in David Arquette Car Accident

David Arquette, who just recently finished a stint in rehab, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he crashed his car in a head-on collision on Friday, PEOPLE reports.

Beverly Hills Police Dept. spokeswoman told the magazine: "No alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash whatsoever. It appears that the accident will be Mr. Arquette's fault for driving on the wrong side of the roadway."

Arquette also let his friends and fans know he hadn't relapsed. "Refused all pain medication-may the record state- still sober!" the actor Tweeted from his hospital bed.

The 'Scream 4' actor was driving in West Hollywood when his vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic. An eyewitness told the site that a car in front of Arquette suddenly stopped, forcing him to steer into traffic and causing the accident.

According to TMZ, the actor was driving in West Hollywood when his vehicle swerved into on-coming traffic.

An eyewittness told the site that a car in front of Arquette suddenly stopped, forcing him to steer into traffic and causing the accident.

Arquette was seen lying on the ground bleeding, before being taken to the hospital.

Update: Arquette's rep tells UsMagazine.com that the actor is okay. "He's fine," says the rep. "He is on his way to be treated."

ARQUETTE REFUSES PAIN MEDICATION FOLLOWING CAR ACCIDENT
David Arquette refused pain medication following his car accident.

The "Scream 4" star was involved in a head-on crash with an oncoming vehicle while he was driving in Beverly Hills yesterday (March 4, 2011) but luckily he escaped with no serious injuries.

He was taken to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to be checked over but the 39-year-old star - who left the Betty Ford Center in January after having rehab treatment for "alcohol and other issues" - didn't want any painkillers because he didn't want them to jeopardize his recovery.

He wrote on his twitter page: "I was on my way to catch a plane to Vegas to help my buddy Stevie D open his restaurant The Sugar Factory ? so sad i'm going to miss it but glad to be alive for a rain check. Refused all pain medication - may the record state - still sober! (sic)"

David also expressed his relief that the woman who had been driving the black SUV his silver Cadillac hit was also unhurt in the incident. She was also given an assessment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The actor - who separated from former "Friends" star Courteney Cox Arquette in October 2010 - added in other tweets: "It was a miracle the woman I hit was uninjured - thank God! Remember to wear your seatbelt - wish I was."

Showing that his sense of humor was still intact as well, Arquette's Tweet included a Charlie Sheen reference: "I got into a car accident but I'm fine. Luckily I have dragon's blood running through my veins. Haha Thank you for all your concern." He then added, "Remember to wear your seatbelt-wish I was."
