Russell Brand Wants to Crash Royal Wedding as Queen Elizabeth

RUSSELL BRAND WANTS TO CRASH ROYAL WEDDING AS QUEEN ELIZABETH
Russell Brand wants to crash the royal wedding disguised as Queen Elizabeth.

Although the madcap comedian hasn't been invited to the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 24, he plans to attend dressed as the 84-year-old British monarch.

He joked: "I'm not invited. I'm going anyway though. I'm going to dress up as the queen. I'm going to say [puts on female voice], 'Hallo, I'm the queen. Happy wedding day William and Kate. Do it baby, kiss, kiss.'"

The 35-year-old funnyman - who is married to Katy Perry - even went on to describe how he would eventually reveal himself to be a man in his bizarre fantasy scenario.

In a TV interview with "Access Hollywood," he added: "Then I'll lift my skirt and I'll have no underwear on and everyone will go, 'The Queen's willy!' Get your laughing gear round that."

It's not the first time Russell - who is from Essex, South East England - has revealed his interest in the royal family, with the "Arthur" once admitting during a radio interview that he would love a title.

He said: "I'd like to be royal. I sometimes think, 'I'd like to marry into the royals.' It would be fun wouldn't it to be a little bit royal? I think I'd fit right in there, they're a lovely bunch."

"I'd like an honorary princehood or dukedom, or some sort of recognition from the royals for what I've done for them over the years."

Russell Brand Considered Quick Proposal

RUSSELL BRAND CONSIDERED QUICK PROPOSAL
Russell Brand almost proposed to Katy Perry on their first date.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry
The British funnyman was instantly smitten with the 26-year-old singer - who he married in October 2010 - when they first went out together in September 2009 and said his feelings for her were like a "hit of acid" in the way they distorted his perception.

Russell - who has a history of drink and drug addiction - said: "I nearly asked her to marry me on our first date. It was like a hit of acid, a wave of confusion, emerging from under the water, a moment of 'Oh bloody hell,' different perception for a moment. And then I thought, ?I'll give it space and see what happens.'"

Russell, 35, admitted he is "fascinated" by his wife and loves her intellect, innocence and the contradictions within her personality.

He told America's Elle magazine: "It's the most normal relationship I've ever had with anybody. She's very spirited, bighearted, innocent, but very, very smart."

"Someone told me that enlightenment is contingent upon being able to hold opposing views simultaneously. I'm actually attracted to that magnetism and sort of repulsion. She's endlessly fascinating."

"I was at a point in my life where I was ready to behave. I look at it the way I look at most things, One day at a time. I will say it's very, very rewarding and I love her."

Dame Helen Mirren explains why Russell Brand has us falling at his feet

It’s a question we’ve all pondered for quite some time – how does characterful Russell Brand make us all swoon? Luckily for us, Dame Helen Mirren has shed some light on the matter, as she was also wondering the same thing, "The penny dropped for me fairly recently with Russell. The thing about him is he likes women, and not a lot of men do.” Speaking in an interview with The Guardian she continued, “That's why women like him. He's genuinely interested in us. Women melt in his presence." Ahhhh… she’s cracked it! In short, he is a real considerate gent!
The 65 year-old actress also admitted that she would love to follow in James Franco and Anne Hathaway’s footsteps and host the Oscars, but as long as it was with Russell, saying, “Please. Anything could happen!” That would definitely make great TV!
The pair have become very fond of each other after working together on The Tempest and Arthur. The big age gap between them and the flurry of younger stars that Helen has been working with recently seem to be playing on her mind, "There's a scary moment when you realise you're no longer the youngest person in the room. That's followed, of course, by the realisation that you're actually the oldest person in the room. When you’re young, you wonder what all these old people are droning on about, trying to impart their wisdom. It’s not relevant to you because being young is such a specific thing. Thank God for that.”

Russell Brand Not Concerned About Typecasting

RUSSELL BRAND NOT CONCERNED ABOUT TYPECASTING
Russell Brand isn't worried about being typecast.

Russell Brand as Arthur Bach The British funnyman - who is married to pop star Katy Perry - plays the title character in "Arthur," a remake of the Dudley Moore movie about a drunk man and his long-suffering staff, but he thinks his choice of only taking comedic roles shouldn't be an "issue" when put in context of other global events.

He said: "You know, when you consider the BP oil spill, the gradual ecological devastation of our planet, racism and warm, my being typecast doesn't seem like such an issue."

Reformed addict Russell - who is now tee-total - also insisted his own experiences with alcohol and drugs in the past have done little to help him learn about the role because Arthur is a different kind of drunk to how he was.

He told Empire magazine: "Well, Arthur is a merry, twinkly drunk. He's not a tortured, morally ambivalent, street walking, amoral, self harming psychopath. So my own experiences have been of little use."

Helen Mirren and Russell Brand The Oscar-winning actress stars with the comic actor in two new movies, "The Tempest" and "Arthur," but admits she was worried about how she would get on with the reformed hellraiser because she is a "good girl."

During an appearance on British breakfast TV show "Daybreak," she said: "I'm a bit infatuated with him. But I was terrified because, you know, it's Russell Brand! Like the bad boy of bad boys. And I'm not a bad girl, I'm a good girl. And when good girls meet bad boys, terrible things can happen - mostly to the good girls."

Despite her concerns, Helen and Russell - who is married to Katy Perry - struck up a great relationship on both sets and she has nothing but praise for him.

The 65-year-old star - who plays Prospera in "The Tempest," which is based on Shakespeare's play of the same name - said: "We did 'Arthur' together which was really wonderful and it kind of sealed our relationship. And there I got to see what an amazing guy he is - an incredible hard worker, kindest heart in the world, funny of course, he's a great guy."

Russell Brand Brings His Stand-up to 'SNL'

Launching into his monologue, host Russell Brand kicked off 'Saturday Night Live' in his cheeky-manic comfort zone, with an extended stand-up routine about his fame, his foppishly tight pants, his fidelity to the Queen (and the "fake King" up for an Oscar award this month, Colin Firth) and his life as a newlywed.

Anyone expecting to hear major dish about Katy Perry was disappointed. After all, once you've shown the world what your wife looks like without makeup, you probably need to dial down the oversharing.

For his tepid sketches, however, Brand has been panned, with many critics unimpressed by characters that flailed, despite hard-working cast members laboring to keep them from tanking. There was an American sweepstakes winner, a horny TV chef, a bellowing king, a violent George Washington and a tea-sipping old lady with a seismograph -- all so conspicuously tethered to the Teleprompter, it might as well have joined Brand in a costume on stage.

Take in the 'SNL' monologue here. And then, after the jump, get in the mood for Valentine's Day with a non-Russell Brand highlight, starring Jay Phaoroh and Taran Killam as Lil' Wayne and Eminem, rapping their sexy new single on 'Weekend Update' as Seth Myers points out that "Knife!" isn't a nice thing to say in a love song.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Coordinate Grammy Outfits (and Wings)

Feb 13th 2011 08:00PMEmail ThisKaty Perry GrammysKaty Perry brought her grandmother to cheer her on at the 2011 Grammy Awards, complete with a bedazzled cane. Also along for the ride was husband Russell Brand, straight off his hosting gig at 'Saturday Night Live' the night before.

Ryan Seacrest asked how Brand was able to make it to the Grammys to Perry's side. He thanked Orville and Wilbur Wright for inventing a "flying train."

Perhaps instead of an airplane, he could have used his wife's fluffy white wings. Perry told Seacrest that Armani had offered to dress the trio, but stopped short of admitting that the designer had also had his hand in her feathery accessories.

During another year, Perry's wings might have been a wild highliight but this year, she had to contend with Lady Gaga's egg and Rihanna's layered see-thru Gaultier.Katy Perry on Grammy Red Carpet

Katy Perry Shares Russell Brand Wedding Footage At Grammys

Katy Perry teased fans about her Grammy performance Saturday with the tweet, "Tomorrow is Grammy's & boy oh boy do I have a very special performance ready for you. CLUE: The theme is looooooovvvvveeee," and true to her word, the singer dished out a very personal and intimate pre-Valentine's Day performance.

Check out photos of Katy Perry's performance and more!

Dangling on a swing in a pale-pink, princess-like frock, Perry began with the Teenage Dream ballad "Not Like the Movies." The singer was then lifted into the air as she began to belt the lyrics, revealing the swing was attached to a giant white drape that filled up the expanse of the stage. As Perry continued to croon about finding the perfect guy, grainy footage from her grand October nuptials to British comedian Russell Brand projected across the drape, showing Perry in her bridal gown kissing her new husband, which was the first time the couple shared any images from their wedding publicly.

After the heartfelt tribute, Perry switched back to the vampy, cheeky pop sensation we've come to know, proclaiming, "This one goes out to all the Valentine lovers!" as crimson-clad dancers invaded the stage for "Teenage Dream." Actress Nicole Kidman sang along in the audience as Perry belted the track on a set outfitted with neon heart-shaped set pieces and monitors dappled with heart-shaped candy pieces.

With Sunday night's (February 13) Grammy performance behind her, Perry is gearing up for her upcoming California Dreams Tour. The poptress recently said she's deep into preparations for the summertime trek, which will cross the country until August.

"It's like training for the Olympics. I'm off to the gym to build stamina ... and I hate working out, but I have to go, because this is a really energetic show," she said. "It's not like I'm going to make my fortune off touring; I'm basically doing this as a big IOU for all the love and support I've gotten. I need to go shake some hands and kiss some people."
