Elizabeth Taylor's Hollywood Walk of Fame star has become a shrine following her death.

Elizabeth Taylor's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Fans have covered the tile with floral tributes to her after she passed away from symptoms of congestive heart failure at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center yesterday (March 23, 2011) aged 79.

One mourner even matched his bouquet to the color of her "unique" eyes.

The unnamed man said: "We asked the florist to select flowers that would commemorate the color of her eyes. We all know her eyes were a unique violet color."

Another tearful member of the public admitted she went along to say goodbye to her idol.

She said: "I felt like if I came here I would say my goodbyes. I've always admired her."

In addition to the flowers, fans also placed cards and classic photos of the Taylor in honor of her.

Sabrina Lamour, who was one of the first to visit the star, said: "I have her films. I collect her films. She's like one of my favorites. I had to be here."

Celebrity tributes have flooded in since her death, with friends and other actors noting her successes in both Hollywood and with her charity work.

Talk show legend Larry King - who interviewed Taylor on several occasions - has described her as an "extraordinary" woman and actress who'd had a comparable life to Frank Sinatra.

Appearing on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," he said: "She was extraordinary in so many ways. If you'd look at her life, she was a great child star. A great screen actress despite her beauty. Sometimes people are so beautiful that people overlook how talented they are. She was an extraordinary actress."

"She changed her faith. She became Jewish. She had one of the largest break-ups in movie history. She broke up a marriage - Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Married Richard Burton twice."

"She was so giving and when she supported you, you had no better friend. There's a lot of comparisons to Sinatra and her, both icons, both said whatever they thought, didn't care what the press thought about them, when they stood up for you they stood up for you."

It's good news for Elizabeth Taylor!

A week after checking into an L.A. hospital for symptoms associated with congestive heart failure, the Hollywood icon is showing marked improvement, PEOPLE has learned.

"Since being admitted, there has been steady improvement in her condition, and over the weekend she has had visits from family and close friends," says a statement from reps for the legendary actress, 78, who suffers from an ongoing heart condition. "Her medical team is gratified by her progress to date, and it is hoped and expected that this will continue over the next few days. For now, she will remain under their care in the hospital for continued monitoring."

While Taylor is enjoying visits from those close to her, "she is sleeping and resting a lot, which she really needs to recover her strength," the star's rep Sally Morrison tells PEOPLE. "Due to symptoms of congestive heart failure, she is still being monitored and continues to need rest to recover her strength. She did not have a heart attack."

Symptoms of congestive heart failure include difficulty breathing and fluid in the lungs.

Taylor, who underwent heart surgery in October 2009, appreciates support of her loyal fans. As the statement continues: "Friends and fans around the world should be reassured that Elizabeth Taylor is in good hands and receiving the best possible care from her skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses."
