Game Titles Purp & Patron Mixtape After His 'Favorite Pastimes'

Mixtape Daily Main Pick

Street King: Game

Holding It Down For: Compton

Mixtape: Purp & Patron, hosted by DJ Skee and Funkmaster Flex

Real Spit: Nobody would mistake Game for a role model. The Compton, California, rapper has had run-ins with the law and beef with fellow MCs 50 Cent and Joe Budden among others. So when he christened his recently released monster of a double-mixtape (and a third disc that dropped shortly after, subtitled The Hangover) he named the set after some of bad habits.

"You know mixtape titles, album titles, rapper names, it always has to be something that's catchy," he told Mixtape Daily. "So I went through my life and tried to put two things together that I like doing, two of my favorite pastimes, and it was purp [marijuana] and Patron [tequila]. Kids, don't try either at home."

Joints to Check For

» "Taylor Made" (featuring Wiz Khalifa): "It's one of my favorites, featuring the new kid on the block," Game said about the menacing Che Vicious-produced track. "He reps Taylor Gang, and I'm notoriously known as Chuck Taylor. Not to be confused or misconstrued with the shoe. There it is."

» "The Kill": "It was supposed to be for The Red Album, but then it got leaked, so we threw it on the mixtape," Game said about the Cool & Dre lift of Le Roux's "In for the Kill," which has also been touched by rappers like the L.E.P. Bogus Boys, STS, Donnis and Jim Jones, among others. "Everybody loves it. It's conscious. Even Nas called me, like, 'Yo.' And Nas don't hit me about no bull. He said it was crazy."
